I have a story for you fine gents. Most of this is copy pasta from my personal tumblr, because this happened a few months ago. And note, I ‘used’ to be in the fandom. Used to, until this incident.


So I’m working express lane (I work at a grocery store), and some guy comes through my line. He’s the typical unwashed dude that looks and smelled like he slept in his clothes, and was just buying candy and energy drinks. I happened to notice that he was wearing a shirt that had Derpy Hooves on it, in a pile of muffins.

Of course I couldn’t stop myself.

“Oh! That’s Derpy!” I say.

This guy’s face lights up like a damn billboard.

“MUFFINS!” he grins as he stares at me.

“Uhhhh….” that’s not quite the response I was expecting. Most nerds that come through my lines usually say something along the lines of ‘it’s nice to see other people liked the show!” and then leaves.

But this guy.

Starts talking nonstop.

About ponies.

He went on and on about how he bought all the pony shirts from Welovefine and how his favorite pony is Rarity and how hot Luna is and how she needed more screen time and MUFFINS MUFFINS MUFFINS HURR HURR.

To move him along I told him I liked Applejack and of course he had to go on about her being ‘hot’.

And then he asked if I had a boyfriend, and what time I get off work.

NOPE NOPE THAT’S RED FLAG CREEP ALERT.

I told him to move along so I can serve other customers after i did tell him firmly that yes, I have a boyfriend. And he just stood off to the side and stared at me with a grin on his face the whole time.

And then the next day HE CAME BACK and just stared some more.

Over the course of a week he’d pop his head into the store, checking to see if I was there, asking my coworkers if I was working that day.

AND THEN.

HE COMES IN ONE DAY WEARING AN APPLEJACK SHIRT.

Winked at me.

And said.

“I Remembered you like applejack, so I bought this shirt and thought of you” ;D

So over the course of a week this creepy creepy man was thinking ABOUT ME AND PONIES and was probably thinking unspeakable things. I asked him to please leave and surprisingly he did, but it didn’t stop him from coming in ALL THE TIME. ASKING IF I WAS ‘AVAILABLE YET’. It got so bad my boss banned him from the store, because he was scaring the living hell out of me!

And what made it worse was I was talking to a Brony friend online and described the experience, and his response was to say ‘Poor Guy ‘. Yes, poor guy, I should have dated him and maybe he wouldn’t have STALKED ME AT WORK FOR WEEKS. IT WAS ALL MY FAULT RIGHT FOR NOT DATING A CREEPY MAN. Needless to say I blocked him, and washed my hands of the fandom forever.

Still have my applejack toys that were gifts from friends, but I think this experience ruined my enjoyment for the show.
