People like what they like and not everyone is exactly a professional reviewer.
Also, if people give reasons people just make fun of them, for example, if I said I like Serial Experiments Lain because of the philosophical aspect of it I'd get shit like "OMG SO DEEP" in response so some people can't be bothered explaining why they like something when they're just going to get shit like that.

Also, "[Something you like] is shit, why do you like it!?" isn't exactly going to get the most positive feedback.

Anyway, my post was in regards to comparing Madoka to NGE in the sense of their content, I didn't know you were comparing the fanbases.
